Books - Girl reading

Book 26

Title: The Hunger Games
Author: Suzanne Collins
396 pages

Well, what I liked the most about The Hunger Games was the writing. Suzanne Collins, the author, writes the story in first person and in present tense, which scared me at first, but it has proved to be the perfect way to suck you into the story and live the coldness and cruelty of the world Katniss lives in.

Katniss Everdeen is the main character of the story. She is a 16 year old girl from District 12. Every year, The Capitolium (government of Panem) picks up the names of a boy and a girl from each of the 12 districts to compete in the games. Only one can survive.

It obviously reminds me of two other stories: The Long Walk, by Stephen King, and Battle Royale, by Koushun Takami. Young people who are forced to fight against each other or take part in a demential game to kill them all save for one.
